Often we are loaded with worries of this world. At times we feel helpless and hopeless. But the Bible says that God cares for us. Once a woman, daughter-in-law of one of the prophets, came to Elisha. She was in real trouble. Her husband was dead and her creditor was after her to take her two sons to be his slaves. She cried out before Elisha and said in 2 Kings 4:1, "Your servant my husband is dead, and you know that your servant feared the LORD. And the creditor is coming to take my two sons to be his slaves."

She was the wife of a godly man who feared Lord God Almighty. This servant of God’s family reached to the position where they could lose everything. She had nothing except a jar of oil in her house. In that horrible situation when she was at the end of her rope God did not leave her nor forsook her. God remembered how her husband had loved the Lord and so He rewarded her. God gave a solution to her through the Prophet Elisha in 2 Ki 4:3-7, "Go, borrow vessels from everywhere, from all your neighbors; empty vessels; do not gather just a few. And when you have come in, you shall shut the door behind you and your sons; then pour it into all those vessels, and set aside the full ones." So she went from him and shut the door behind her and her sons, who brought the vessels to her; and she poured it out. Now it came to pass, when the vessels were full, that she said to her son, "Bring me another vessel." And he said to her, "There is not another vessel." So the oil ceased. Then she came and told the man of God. And he said, "Go, sell the oil and pay your debt; and you and your sons live on the rest."

Once we were in deep financial trouble and we immediately needed huge sum of money. My sister said, “when others were in need we always gave them without thinking of our financial condition but now when we are in need, who will help us? We could never think of anybody who will give money generously and forget about it…” Yes, we were in deep trouble and we did not know what to do. We had no other option but to cry out to God. In this situation God came to our rescue and sent some fine friends who helped us.

Are you in trouble today? Look to Jesus, He can help you. Psalmist says in Psa 22:5, “They cried to You, and were delivered; They trusted in You, and were not ashamed.”

David ran for his life in his very early age, but God never allowed him to fall in to the hands of Saul. God protected him every single time from the hands of the king of Israel and his army.

Yes, my friend, there is a God who cares for us. No matter what your situation may be today, Jesus cares for you if you are His child. At times you could feel as if God is nowhere to be found but He is with you. He will help you and deliver you from all your troubles. If you are in trouble and if you are not a child of God, you can become one by praying this simple prayer: “Dear Jesus, I am a sinner. Please forgive and forget all my sins. Wash me with your precious blood and make me your child. I give my life to you. Come into my life and change it completely. Thank you for making me your child. I give you all the glory. In Jesus name I pray, Amen.”

Awesome God – Part 4

By Sherly Isaac

God of the Bible is an awesome and mighty God and yet He loves to have fellowship with human beings. He walks with those who love Him. He talks and gives counsel to those who know Him. His presence can transform an ordinary person to an extraordinary person.

One of the judges in Israel was Samson. Though he was an ordinary man yet when God was with him, he could do extraordinary things. As long as God was with him, he was victorious no matter how many people could assemble against him to defeat him.

Once Samson fought against the Philistines, then he went down and dwelt in the cleft of the rock of Etam. The Philistines were angry at the behavior of Samson and they encamped in Judah and positioned their troops at Lehi in readiness for combat to fight against the Israelites. Further we read in Judg 15:10-11, And the men of Judah said, "Why have you come up against us?" So they answered, "We have come up to arrest Samson, to do to him as he has done to us." Then three thousand men of Judah went down to the cleft of the rock of Etam, and said to Samson, "Do you not know that the Philistines rule over us? What is this you have done to us?" And he said to them, "As they did to me, so I have done to them."

All the Israelites were afraid of the Philistines because they ruled over them. But a lone man namely Samson did so much damage to the Philistines that they gathered against the Israelites to attack them. Now people from Judah came and bound Samson and delivered him in to the hands of the Philistines at Lehi. Further we read in Judg 15:14-16, “When he came to Lehi, the Philistines came shouting against him. Then the Spirit of the LORD came mightily upon him; and the ropes that were on his arms became like flax that is burned with fire, and his bonds broke loose from his hands. He found a fresh jawbone of a donkey, reached out his hand and took it, and killed a thousand men with it. Then Samson said: "With the jawbone of a donkey, Heaps upon heaps, With the jawbone of a donkey I have slain a thousand men!"

Again the Philistines came against Samson to kill him and the Bible says in Judg 16:3, “And Samson lay low till midnight; then he arose at midnight, took hold of the doors of the gate of the city and the two gateposts, pulled them up, bar and all, put them on his shoulders, and carried them to the top of the hill that faces Hebron.”

Philistines were constantly seeking a way to kill or capture Samson and every time he escaped because God was with him.

Yes, my friend, if this awesome God is with you, nothing can defeat you. You will see victory after victory in your life. This awesome God will make you victorious in every field of your life and over your enemies.

Samuel was a young boy and by that time he walked with God. Bible says that whatever he prophesied none failed because God was with him. We read in 1 Sam 3:19, “So Samuel grew, and the LORD was with him and let none of his words fall to the ground.”

If this awesome God is with you, He will exalt you before others and will not allow you to be ashamed before others. Invite this awesome God in your life and you will never be the same again. He will make you victorious. You will be head and not the tail. He will fulfill His promise according to Deu 26:19, "and that He will set you high above all nations which He has made, in praise, in name, and in honor, and that you may be a holy people to the LORD your God, just as He has spoken."
