Ezekiel 20:41, "I will accept you as a sweet aroma when I bring you out from the peoples and gather you out of the countries where you have been scattered; and I will be hallowed in you before the Gentiles." "I will accept you as a sweet aroma." God wants to accept us as a sweet aroma, but when? There are certain conditions to be fulfilled to transform us as a sweet aroma before almighty God. When we read Old Testament, we see that God gave the Laws to Moses. And according to the Law they used to sacrifice an animal on the altar of God and it is considered as a sweet aroma before God. A burnt offering or a sacrifice that is made by fire as the Bible says in Exodus 29:18, "And you shall burn the whole ram on the altar. It is a burnt offering to the LORD; it is a sweet aroma, an offering made by fire to the LORD."
Burnt offering is offered to atone for sin in general. Jesus gave Himself as sacrifice for us as atonement for our sins. He shed His precious blood on the cruel cross so that we may be free from sin. He purchased pardon for our sins on the cruel cross. The place where we had to be, the punishment that we had to bear, He took on Himself and died on behalf of us. Yes, His blood is available for us today to cleanse us from all our unrighteousness and make us a sweet aroma.
Martin Luther was saved from his sins. One day he was praying in his room. Suddenly devil appeared before him. He started writing on the wall, all the sins of Martin Luther that he committed before getting salvation. The wall was full and had no further space. After finishing the devil turned to him and said, "you have committed this much sin and how do you expect to go to heaven?" You are not going to heaven. For a moment Martin Luther thought, "yes devil is right." But immediately he said, "my sins are forgiven because the Bible says, "The blood of Jesus cleanses us from all our sins." Yes, Jesus forgave all my sins. As soon as he said this, devil left that place. No matter what your sins are, Jesus can forgive all your sins and make you clean.
Burnt offering is offered to specify complete dedication and consecration to God. Paul says in Romans 12:1, "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service." Once you get saved, then you need to walk in His holy ways. And this is only possible by the anointing of the Holy Spirit. When a person gets the anointing of the Holy Spirit, he/she gets a helper who shows how to walk in the ways of God as Jesus said in John 14:26, "But the Helper, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, He will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all things that I said to you." And also Jesus said in John 16:13, "However, when He, the Spirit of truth, has come, He will guide you into all truth; for He will not speak on His own authority, but whatever He hears He will speak; and He will tell you things to come."
If you have not yet received the anointing of the Holy Spirit, this is the time to get filled with His mighty power. It will change your life totally as it did in the life of Peter. Peter denied Jesus three times but later he was filled with Holy Spirit and he became a mighty witness even to the extend that just by his shadow people got healed. Yes, the power of Holy Spirit and fire will consume your sins and make you free.
Yes, anointing breaks the yoke and makes us a sweet aroma before almighty God.
Fasting and Prayer
By Sherly Isaac
Once a preacher said, "When I travel by car or bus, I am in fasting." When I walk along the road, while I go to work, I am in fasting. Oh, does the Bible teach us about this type of fasting? No, of course not. Doing your works and not eating food is not fasting in the real sense. We see in the life of Moses that he went to the mountain and spent forty days with God without any food and without any water. And Bible says about Jesus that He was led by the Spirit in the wilderness and He fasted for forty days and forty nights. If you want to fast, you must have a separate place. Run to a place where you can communicate with God all alone. Yes, spending time with God is fasting. Moses spent time with God, Jesus spent time with God and all the people who fasted in the Bible, they spent time with God. They did not go to work but they separated their time for God. Yes, fasting is separating time for God - a time that is totally dedicated for God.
When Moses went to fast, then God gave him the future plans. He brought the word from almighty God for people (exodus 19). Yes, when you fast, God gives the future plan for your life, your ministry and gives word for people.
When a demon possessed person was brought to the Lord, Jesus cast out that demon. Disciples asked Him why they could not cast it out? Jesus answered and said in Matthew 17:21, "However, this kind does not go out except by prayer and fasting." When you fast and pray, you get power over evil spirits and evil powers. So fasting is important for every believer. If you want power you need to fast, if you need guidance to know the will of God you must fast and pray. If you need the mighty movement of Holy Spirit in your ministry, you must fast.
